A Middlesbrough mum's been jailed for 9 years, after she admitted having sex with a 12 year-old boy almost 200 times. Angela Sullivan, 36, of Cavendish Road put a gold star in her diary for each time they slept together.

She would send her own son off to his grandparents while they met up. And when they'd slept together 100 times, she even bought him a pair of trainers as a reward. She was planning to get him an X-box after they reached 200.

It went on for 10 months before police started to grow suspicious, after rumours circulated that she was pregnant. She was arrested in October, and pleaded guilty to 10 charges of causing a child to engage in sexual activity. At sentencing, the judge described it as a dreadful abuse of trust, that had persisted over a substantial period of time.

Acting Detective John Wrintmore is from Cleveland police:

"Sexual offences - particularly where children are the victims - are treated extremely seriously by the police and courts, and this sentence demonstrates the consequences of such actions. "

"I wish to commend the courage, and strength of character shown by the young victim in this case, as it would not have been an easy task to talk about what had happened. Without this we would not have been able to progress the investigation to this conclusion."
