Woman hit by police car in Redcar

A 29 year old woman's in hospital with serious head, spinal and pelvis injuries after she was knocked down by a police car in Redcar

It happened around 10.30pm last night on the A174 close to the roundabout at Grewgrass lane.

A police car was on a routine patrol when the accident happened.

The Independent Police Complaints' Commission is now investigating the incident

The woman is in a critical but stable condition at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
