Tom's Appeal
Story Highlight
now helping the family to raise £20,000 to send Thomas to Germany for the therapy he desperately needs.
Thomas was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in February 2009.
He had an operation at Newcastle General Hospital to remove the tumour, which was at the back of his brain. Tom was clear for 18 months, but his family suffered another cruel blow in February this year when a routine scan revealed tumours at the front of his brain.
Tom has been told by doctors his condition is inoperable.
His parents Ian and Rachel are now pinning their hopes on a type of treatment, called Dendritic Cell Therapy, offered by a German clinic. This is a non-surgical procedure which uses the body's own immune system to fight the tumour.
Tom's parents understand there is no magic cure and no guarantee the treatment will work but are willing to pursue any option which offers hope to their son.
TFM Radio's Cash for Kids Charity are now helping the family to raise £20,000 to send Thomas to Germany for the therapy he desperately needs.
